The Quaker Square Inn at The University of Akron

The Quaker Square Inn at The University of Akron, Akron, stands out for its converted grain-silo setting in downtown Akron, with round guest rooms that made the old hotel feel very different from a standard stay. The building is part of the former Quaker Oats complex and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The rooms followed the circular shape of the silos and had traditional furnishings. A King room had one king bed, blackout drapes, a work desk, and a coffee maker, while an Executive room added a seating area, a refrigerator, and an oversized garden tub. The hotel had interior corridors, balconies, a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, complimentary self-parking, a business center, meeting and banquet space, a fitness center, a gift shop, and a smoke-free setup. The Quaker Square Inn is now a University of Akron residence hall, so travelers need other accommodation arrangements.
