Rooms at The Helmsman Guest House have en-suite facilities. Some rooms face the sea, while rear rooms look toward the hills, and some also have a view toward the National Library of Wales. A king room has a bay window and a shower room with a rainfall shower, which gives a more specific sense of the room style than a generic seaside B&B room.

Breakfast is part of the stay. A full English breakfast is included, with fruit, cereals, tea, coffee, and fruit juices also available. This makes the property practical for a short Aberystwyth break where guests want the first meal handled before leaving the building.

Parking has a clear limitation. Marine Terrace has parking bays, but they are restricted between May and September. The property also gives Queens Road, behind the building, as an unrestricted parking option, and there is a pay-and-display car park nearby.
