The Old Course Hotel is the property at Old Station Road, St Andrews, Fife KY16 9SP, not a similarly named hotel in Ayr. Its position beside the St Andrews Links courses is the defining feature, and the hotel is also a short stroll from the heart of St Andrews.

Rooms range from traditional to contemporary in style, and some rooms have balconies or views over the golf course. Suites add living areas, and some also include extra bathrooms or kitchenettes, so the room choice can change the amount of space and in-room practicality.

The stay works well as a resort hotel because guests have access to Kohler Waters Spa and its fitness centre. The spa facilities include a 20-metre pool, treatment rooms, a rooftop spa garden, and a lounge, giving the building more than just a place to sleep.

Food and drink are handled inside the property, with six restaurants and bars on site. The hotel also gives guests the ability to book advance tee times on The Duke’s, the hotel’s championship golf course, which makes the stay especially practical for a golf-focused trip.

Arrival by rail is through Leuchars Railway Station, which is four miles from the hotel. The hotel also offers a chauffeur service that can meet guests at their chosen arrival point, and resort residents have a courtesy transfer to The Duke’s Course.
