The Dog House Hotel gives you a peaceful rural base in Frilford Heath, just outside Abingdon.

The property is a traditional countryside hotel set in a 1700s stone inn, with a rustic pub and restaurant in the same building. This makes the stay feel more like an old Oxfordshire inn than a city hotel, with the practical advantage of food and drink available on site rather than needing to leave the property for every meal.

Rooms at The Dog House Hotel include en suite bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Some upgraded rooms add sofa beds, which gives extra sleeping or sitting space without changing the simple hotel format.

The stay works well for guests arriving by car because the property has a car park. The hotel also has a restaurant, a traditional bar with wood-beamed character, a fireplace, a conservatory, and an outdoor terrace, so the public areas are part of the appeal rather than just a place to check in and sleep.

The limit to note is that the rooms do not have air conditioning. For a rural inn-style hotel near Abingdon, the strongest reasons to choose it are the countryside setting, the on-site pub and restaurant, and the car parking rather than a resort-style facilities list.
