The Crown Inn is a historic coaching inn at 16 High Street in Old Amersham, with a stay shaped by its old building and courtyard layout rather than a modern hotel block. Rooms are in timber-framed buildings around old courtyards, and the room details include en suite bathrooms, TVs, free Wi-Fi, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Some rooms add more characterful features such as four-poster beds, free-standing baths, and rainfall showerheads.
The stay works well for arrivals by train or car. Amersham station is reached by walking along the High Street, and guests driving to Amersham can use the Whielden Street car park, which is free for guests and about a 2-minute walk from the inn. The car park uses number-plate recognition, so the vehicle registration needs to be given at reception.
Breakfast is served in the building, and The Crown Inn also has a bar and restaurant, so meals do not depend on leaving the property. The setting is still practical for London access, with direct rail service from London Marylebone and the Metropolitan line reaching Amersham without a change from Baker Street.
The main limit is accessibility caused by the Grade II listed structure. Ground-floor restaurant and bar areas are wheelchair accessible, and accessible bedrooms are available, but the historic building limits structural changes, so guests with mobility, hearing, visual, or dietary requirements need to contact the inn before booking so the most suitable room can be prepared.
