Rooms are en-suite, so the bathroom is private to the room. Room facilities include Freeview television and tea and coffee making facilities, giving the bedroom the practical setup expected from a small hotel stay rather than self-catering accommodation.

The stay works well for travelers who want meals in the same building. Food is served in the bar, restaurant, and beer garden, and the hotel serves coffees and breakfast rolls in the morning. The bar side of the property also includes real ales and malt whiskies, so the building is not only a place to sleep but also a place to eat and drink without leaving the property.

The hotel is within walking distance of the beach, Ayr town centre, parks, and golf courses.

One limit is the dog policy: dogs are allowed in the beer garden only, and the restaurant and bar are not dog friendly.
