Shipwright Inn is a warm B&B in an 1865 clapboard house at 51 Fitzroy Street, so the stay has more of a small-inn feel than a standard hotel setup. The building’s historic character is part of the decision: this is a place to choose for a central Charlottetown base with breakfast and parking handled on site.

Rooms vary by floor and layout. The Chartroom is on the ground floor with one double bed, while Navigator’s Retreat is on the second floor with either one king bed and a double sofa bed or two twin beds and a double sofa bed. Tiller Flat is on the basement level and has one queen bed plus a double sofa bed.

The stay works well because breakfast is included in the building, and parking is included on the property. Free Wi-Fi and air conditioning are also part of the stay, and the inn is smoke-free. There is also a terrace and garden, which give the property some space beyond the guest rooms.

The main limit to note is that at least one accommodation, Tiller Flat, is on the basement level, so travelers who prefer an upper-floor room should choose a different room type.
