This is a modest hotel in Calgary at 2231 Banff Trail NW, with a practical setup rather than a resort-style feel. The location works especially well if your stay is tied to the university area or the stadium area, because the hotel sits directly by those places instead of requiring a cross-city trip.

Rooms at Econo Lodge Inn & Suites University include a refrigerator and a microwave. A one-bedroom suite option has three double beds, a living room, a kitchenette, a ground-floor position, exterior-corridor access, and a 32-inch LCD or plasma TV. That gives the room a more functional layout than a plain sleep-only room, especially when you want space to sit separately from the beds.

The stay is built around useful hotel basics: free continental breakfast is served in the building, WiFi is included, and there is an indoor pool. The hotel also has a fitness center, exterior corridors, security surveillance, and a 24-hour security person. For travelers comparing simple Calgary hotels, those details make the property easier to use for a short stay without needing to arrange every small part of the morning separately.

Public transit is also close, with the nearest stop listed as a five-minute walk from the hotel. Econo Lodge Inn & Suites University is also listed as one of the few hotels in its area with a restaurant, which adds another practical on-site option during the stay.
